What is Adult Therapy?

  • Intake appointments are 80 mins in length and provides the opportunity for the therapist to conduct a comprehensive social work assessment. During this appointment you are invited to share what brought you to therapy, discuss any historical or present factors that may have contributed to your current thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

  • Ongoing individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length and currently occur virtually from the comfort of your own home. Ideally you should ensure that you are able to find a private space that allows you to speak freely and confidentially. Initial sessions will focus on creating a treatment plan and goals of therapy. It is ideal to book sessions bi-weekly for the initial phase of therapy to cultivate rapport and momentum in your therapeutic process.

  • Modalities of treatment will be distilled and explained through the treatment planning process and could draw from cognitive-behavioural techniques, to dialectical behavioural therapy strategies, emotion-focused skills training, utilize solution-focused approaches, or incorporate a Christian counselling lens throughout your sessions.

  • During your session, the therapist will listen attentively, providing empathetic feedback and facilitate deeper exploration of your emotions and behaviours. They may ask probing questions aimed at enhancing your self-awareness and understanding, all while maintaining a non-judgmental stance.
